What is Malware?
Malware is the overarching term for any harmful software that can damage your system. Malware types include: Virus, Ransomware, Spyware, Trojans, Worms and Adware. They are commonly spread by being manually downloaded through an insecure link or visiting compromised websites.
What is a Virus?
A virus is a specific type of malware that self-replicates and often requires a clean program or file to launch. The term's common use today stems from the early days of computers when viruses were a primary threat. Popular computer security companies at the time took on the name "Anti-Virus" and stuck with it.
